Welding Academy
Two Career Pathways for Individuals with Disabilities (CPID) Academies were held in the Shenandoah Valley Region this summer. The first was a welding academy at Massanutten Technical Center July 15-19. Participants got hands-on experience with welding equipment and were introduced to the basics of industry-recognized credentials needed to qualify for high-demand jobs.
IT Academy
The second academy was held August 5-9 at the Virginia Career Works – Winchester Center and provided participants with a week-long exploration of careers in Information Technology (IT). Students were able to determine interest and aptitude in the IT field and understand what types of jobs are available and what education and skills are necessary for success in an IT career.
