Through funding from Governor Northam’s Office, the Return to Earn Grant Program, offers funding support to eligible Shenandoah Valley small businesses to provide new hires with up to $500 in hiring incentives to support their transition back into the workforce. The Return to Earn Grant Program will serve businesses with 99 or less employees that may not have the resources to provide this financial support.
This initiative will reimburse up to $500 in hiring incentives that a qualifying small business in the Shenandoah Valley pays directly to a new employee hired after May 31, 2021. Funds will only be reimbursed to businesses for new hires in positions that pay at least $15 per hour (tips included) and that qualify as W-2 employment, either full- or part-time.
UPDATE: As of August 31, 2021, the new hire receiving the hiring bonus must have been previously unemployed for one month (30 calendar days) or longer as attested to by the new hire. Additionally, the Return to Earn Grant no longer requires an employer match of the hiring bonus.
